Editing

Image
(A picture like this makes me look high-quality.) Today I began editing my video.  Before I get into that, lets quickly summarize progress beforehand. After filming on the bus, it was easy to film my walk home. The neighbors watched me with unnerving interest. It was so tempting to pretend I hadn't placed my phone on a fire hydrant then walked a away, but they saw all of that. I grabbed my phone from the hydrant, ignoring the questioning looks, and filmed a point of view shot. After getting home, I pretended to be walking in and set my stuff down, and film myself tying my shoes. See, this is a bit much for what I showed in the story board, but the songs has intervals of instrumental. In order to fill in that space, I filmed extra scenes. Most of it might get cut away, but this is for precaution. I embedded the sound of song onto Capcut and began to edit. No one tells you how hard it is to properly match the timing of  a scene that is shot in two different angles. I spent a good min

Bus Rides

Image
I liked how car scenes looked in vlogs I've seen in YouTube so I decided to incorporate that. If you reference my story board it's the 4th or 5th scene. During my morning bus ride, I propped the camera onto the window. Thank god for being on of the first stop. The less people. The better. Since my morning bus rides are mostly during pre-sunrise, I could show a chill vibe. I struggled in what pose to put myself in to show emotion. I took multiple shots with different poses. One with me laying on bag, another with me pretending to be a sleep.  My next shot was later into the school day. It was afternoon, the sky was blue and bright. I took different shots with in different positions. Honestly, the same poses as stated before.  After some contemplation, I decided to record the outside as well. As the car ran, I would flip the camera and show the cars passing by. I thought it would add to my story of days passing by in a peaceful manner. I tried to take a video of cars going up on

Started Filming

Image
Hello guys, here is another update. So I've begun the filming process, which is good. It was a day off of school, so I had extra time to get everything. For the first scene, I waited until it was dark out to record it. I did that to capture that early morning feel. Or the 'I-hate-mornings' look. What I could've done is woke up earlier to capture that feeling at it's true esscence but I would rather...not. Instead, I waited until it was night time. It was a little embrasssing, considering my room has not been updated since i was 9, but I got over it. Just had to tidy up a bit, so while it looked clean, it still looked lived in. You know? The best part of this section was filming in clothes that literally lookd like I rolled out of bed. (P.S. Might as well say that the wallsin my room are pink. Just to throw that out there and get it over with.) I couldn't get the angle right, a tad frustarting, and it looked a bit awkward. As a solution I used another angle, with

Learned Something New Today

That picture made me giggle for absolutely no reason. But it fits, so whatever. My teacher opened my eyes today. She taught me and the rest of the class how to convert a YouTube video into a mp3. Well she taught me. I was the only one who didn't know how to do it. Which was embarrassing, I had to discreetly ask how how to do it. Which is funny because I had all my plans and research basically situated and here I am. Clueless to the first step. Well besides the initial embarrassment, it was informative. All it takes in searching up a website, copying and pasting and then boom. with a click of a button you have your MP3 music video. The more I'm in this class, the more I feel smarter  like I just opened my third eye. Along with Cap cut I'm going to use other software's. My iPhone consist of many editing apps, it's a shame to not to try and use them. I'm thinking of iMovies. Like Cap cut, I've used to it in the past. However, it was only once, and on a l borrow

Adressing a Slight Bias

I'm currently still researching. Only a little bit though, I'm not that bad.  Swear. In my defence, I just wated to give a update, not sound incompentent to my work. I've coem to a realization within my research. The MV isn't supposed to high quality and done by the best producers, I just need to put in the effort. And of course have the effort show. I think that's what indie artist strive for. At this point, I'm researching to capture the full vibe and charm of a indie MV. Of course most indie artist run on a  small budget. Perfect for me, as a highschooler. I am not Drake. I'm not Nicki Minaj, I am 100% not Beyonce. I don't have the money to solve word hunger if I wanted to, like Elon Musk. All I got is my iphone, and effort. Which is really a unappreciated combo, you create a lot fo things with a phone. I mean, ETA, by New Jeans, was recorded on a Iphone 14. I know they aren't a indie group, and they're funded by one of the most influential com

Song Chosen!

Howdy. So for this music video, I'm going to be working by myself. YAY!  But Mya, why in the world would you do that to yourself?  Isn't that alot of work?  That's what people have been asking me. Why? Because I can. I thought about it, I could go socialize and ease the work load on myself. On the other hand, I don't want to socialize and I rather not stress about other getting their work done. If I was going to stress about work being done, at least I would be in control of that. At the end of the day, I can't force people to do something. Isn't that alot of work? Yes. But alas, that is life. Besides doing it by myself, doesn't mean I can't ask for help or guidance. The song I'm planning on doing is 'Rises the Moon" by Liana Flores. This song is simply amazing for a chill vibe. It gives off a nostalgia feel that I constantly refer back to throughout the day. I've been thinking about it since this project was first mentioned in the beg

Intro...again!

Howdy, my name is Mya Julien. I am an 11th grader at Fort Lauderdale Highschool. At the time of this blog, I'm at the romanticized age of 16. I'm the youngest in the family and pretty shy, so I'm not too excited to see how Junior year is going to bet. They call it the 'worse year' for a reason.  To add 'flavor' to such 'basic' information, I'm Haitian American, part of the LGBTQ+ community. Now people can take that information and do whatever they want with it, yet I'll always be proud of my identity.  On another note, I love music. I can't function long-term without it. Everything I do requires my headphones. For example, Homework, working out, walking, running, typing this blog... You get the point. I love all types of generes of music, such as K-pop, R&B, alternative, etc. Everything but country. I cannot stand country music, nor can everyone else I'm friends with. It's one of the reasons why I'm on good terms with so m
