What conventions of Slasher/Horror does this movie have do I like?
What i do like about this movie is that, the killers are not just human but instead, a consequence of a the murder of a a woman centuries ago, giving a dire butterfly effect to the future. This twist is what makes it different from other slasher films. The killings are brutal and creative, the acting is desperate and makes you hope for a savior even though the character will inevitably meet their end. The characters are likable, which makes it worse when they die in gruesome ways.
What conventions of Slasher/Horror does this movie have do I not like?
Despite how the supernatural aspect makes the movie different from the rest, I don't think its obtainable or replicable if I do it. I'm afraid it would look tacky or weird on a independently-made opening sequence. I'm afraid this franchise is the only franchise that could pull something like a witch's curse off.
